some movement, scary numbers and a playgym update
I just realized that it has been a little while since my last entry, so it’s time for an update.Driveway: The permit from PENNDOT finally arrived and the contractor is now scheduled for the first week in July. I really thought we would get this particular project done a long time ago, but like any great plan...it was subject to multiple parties, weather and, of course, they need for written permission from a governmental organization. But we are ready to go with the correct paper in-hand, trees down and brush cleared. (by moi) We’re really looking forward to enjoying a different view of our beautiful property as we enter and leave it.
Survey: The surveyor completed his work a few days ago after a brief delay to research adjacent properties. It’s really nice to know where all the corners actually are! I was greatly surprised at how far down the road the SE corner turned out to be...I always pictured it a little closer to the main portion of the property. (Our land is shaped a little like Louisiana with that bump-out in the SE corner)
Elevations: Jim Gray met with us this past Saturday and delivered elevation renderings for our consideration and approval. I scanned and posted them in the Plans section of this site. They actually look somewhat like my own renderings...go figure! At any rate, we are pleased with them. The only change we saw for the moment is to add a window to the master shower area.
Preliminary Cost Estimate: AAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!!!!!! A lot. ’Like what we paid for this property originally. AAAAAAaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!
Next Steps: Two or three additional preliminary cost estimates based on the same specs to insure that the first was not out of line. Next, refining the specifications and finalizing the plans in anticipation of ordering complete documentation/plan sets for permitting. And, of course, finding a winning lottery ticket that pays out sufficiently to cover the cost of the project...
Play Gym: It's installed!
